User Guide

The primary users of the resources on the EDB Educational Multimedia (EMM) website are teachers and students. These resources are developed based on the school curriculum and students’ learning needs, and are provided freely for schools to facilitate the design of learning and teaching activities and to enrich students’ learning experience.

All data, videos, photos, pictures, questions and suggested answers can be used for multiple purposes, such as teaching materials, references for curriculum planning, student self-learning, and student assignments. They should be adapted with professional judgement to cater for learner diversity and the needs of learning, teaching and assessment.

Teachers are encouraged to provide appropriate supplementary notes or explanations and to arrange pre-lesson or extended learning activities to enrich the resources, facilitating students’ understanding of the relevant topic and information.

After learning and teaching activities, teachers should conduct debriefing to help students integrate new knowledge and ideas with their prior knowledge and experiences for consolidation. It is important for teachers to adopt a prudent and objective attitude, listening to and understanding students’ needs with an open mind and careful attention. Besides, teachers can encourage students to apply new contents and ideas in future learning activities or everyday life, making their learning more meaningful.

Teachers should remind students that when using media, it is essential to examine, analyse and evaluate information critically. They should maintain rational thinking, avoid making misjudgments and refrain from engaging in inappropriate behaviours influenced by emotions. Additionally, students should use media properly, safely, ethically and legally to develop correct values and attitudes towards online information.

Please note that some information may change over time. Teachers are advised to visit the relevant websites for the most up-to-date information. We welcome feedback on areas for improvement and encourage teachers to provide updated information to enrich the content of the resources for teachers’ and students’ reference.
