Chinese Festivals and Culture

This is a documentary programme that explores the culture and customs related to two Chinese festivals: the Mid-Autumn Festival and Dragon Boat Festival. 1. Customs related to the Mid-Autumn Festival introduced are: - the story of Chang U, the Moon Lady - the making of mooncakes - the making of paper lanterns - how people celebrate the festival - the changes in the way people celebrate the festival 2. Customs related to the Dragon Boat Festival introduced are: - the origin of the Dragon Boat Festival - the customs related to the Dragon Boat Races - the making of rice-dumplings In addition, the International Dragon Boat Race is also introduced at the end of the programme. There are also interviews with the oversea Chinese participants to explore their feelings towards the competition and what the competitions mean to them.
