After performing microbiological experiments, it is important to sterilise the used apparatus and unwanted cultures properly before disposal, so that the environment would not be contaminated by the microorganisms. In this video, two common ways of sterilisation, i.e. immersion in 10% chlorine bleach and autoclaving, are introduced. The preparation of chlorine bleach and its proper storage, as well as the procedures for operating an autoclave and the related safety measures are introduced.
